The client came with a request about a digital book cover (kindle edition) depicting the story of a mystery vault during the Roman empire in A.D. 117. Along came a request to illustrate some maps to give the reader perspective of the eastern provinces of the empire during that time.

After reviewing different proofs, the client liked the idea of incorporating negative space on the typography, while keeping his original request of incorporating a torch on the design.
